About The Composer

Kieran Harrison is a British Impressionism composer who desires to compose one-of-a-kind atmospheric music; fusing the Romantic and Expressionistic musical features to create surreal works of fantasy, he has utilised this idea to create entirely new bodies of music. He is also a sophisticated musicologist who is notable for his notions of new musical notation, execution and hidden underlying structure, revealing the doors to a whole new musical world.

"I compose music with a long duration because I am trying to create a euphoric world for the listeners to immerse themselves in spiritually, and allow them to stay there for a better experience" - K. Harrison

Harrison is only interested in music with fantasy qualities embedded in the melody/harmony of the piece, which is why he takes inspiration from the Romantic era for features of virtuosity, cantabile playing, extreme dynamical/pitch ranges etc. whilst the expressionistic influences in his music contribute to morbidity, mystery and generally intriguing melody.

"I have to argue that music is more emotional when 'melodic painting' occurs in the melody, embodying the exact emotions that the composer intended to; and that is what I'm here for." - K. Harrison

Outside of music, Harrison takes interest in using Mathematics and Physics to uncover the deep mysteries of the musical world, which are submitted (as PDF/XLS) in the theory section of this website. These theories broadly range from "What is The Upper Bound on The Speed of Sound?" to "Analysis of Octatonic Modes". Feel free to explore Harrison's work under the "Compositions" and "Theories" tabs.
